The making of the Midnight Garden

The inspiration behind The Midnight Garden print was based on the rich tradition of heritage scarves and the ornate and decorative prints of the period.

I started with an intricate, paisley style drawing which played on the vernacular of William Morris style botanical illustration, but creating a unique and modern take on the style.

The design is then scanned and digitally altered to refine and colour the pieces. Initially I worked on an option of 4 different colourways, but then narrowed it down to just 2 colourways, the black, teal and terracotta and the Navy, powder blue and rasberry colours.

You can see the Midnight Garden Collection here, featuring the design on my silk scarves, accessories and also wallpaper and velvet cushions too!
